'Tis the dress!

Forget jingle bells! All I hear are wedding bells!”

For the past few weeks I’ve had the pleasure of attending several weddings #blacklove. The last wedding I attended had a Great Gatsby theme.  I love themed weddings and as a plus-sized fashionista, I do my best to dress the part. I needed to find something theme appropriate and unique.  Problem was, I let time slip past me.  I’m sure you can relate to the pressure of finding the look at the last minute.  Not to mention, the holiday season is upon us, so sis was “balling on a budget” lol.  My typical go-to stores like Belk, Macy’s, or Dillards were out of the question for this look.  I drove around for a while and the spirit led me to Ross.

I walked in hopeful and started my search with images of the 1920s and Great Gatsby in mind.  I went straight to my size.  Now let’s be honest, most stores don’t carry fashionable  plus sized clothing.  And IF they do, the  selection is limited.  My expectations weren’t very high but after a quick look through the rack...boom, a beautiful black dress popped out of nowhere!  It had puffed sleeves with velvet leopard print spots. I tried on the dress and it looked absolutely gorgeous! I knew then it was the one.  I said a quick prayer before checking the price tag. At only $19.99 this beauty was definitely coming home with me (wont’ He do it!).

Little black dress...CHECK!  Now to accessorize.  NO look is complete without the right accessories and shoes, right?  I decided to save a few coins by looking for the perfect accessories in my closet.  Digging deep in my closet I found a black belt embellished with a gold plated front the to add a little spice to the dress.  I coupled the look with a simple but elegant black clutch and a black strapped heel.  Your girl also did her own makeup (thank Goodness for YouTube tutorials!!).  I decided to go with a simple gold eye and popping red lip.  Just like that, the look  came together.  I felt like I could of been in the movie Great Gatsby!  Take a look at my wedding look all for under $20!

All it takes is you to achieve a million dollar look so don’t be afraid to go that discount store and make magic happen!
